Singer Lea Salonga reads out Jasmine’s story in Disney’s ‘Storytime’

Actress, singer Lea Salonga featured recently in one of Disney’s online project. The 49-year-old star participated in Storytime, wherein celebrities read children’s books. “Every page a surprise. You’ll treasure this Jasmine tale from 5 minute princess stories” as read by Lea Salonga,” Disney wrote on the description box of the clip titled Storytime with Lea Salonga | Disney.

Salonga sang A Whole New World from Disney’s 1992 animated feature movie Aladdin. She is an official Disney legend for providing the singing voices of Princess Jasmine from Aladdin and Mulan.

Salonga reads a story called A Proper Princess from Disney’s 5-minute princess stories.The story finds Jasmine trying to take a more active leadership role in Agrabah through letters from a merchant in the village.The Broadway star also sings a little bit of A Whole New World at the beginning of the video.

Amid global lockdowns due to the coronavirus pandemic, Disney in recent weeks has been releasing unique, produced-from-home content on its social media platforms. Storytime has tapped the likes of Hollywood actors John Stamos, Jeff Goldlbum, Ginnifer Goodwin, and Colin O’Donoghue as story readers. Other Disney Princess voice actresses have also joined Storytime, with Paige O’Hara (Belle), Auli’i Cravalho (Moana), and Jodi Benson (Ariel) bringing to life their respective characters anew.
