Rowdy Rathore an action film directed by Prabhu Deva and produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Ronnie Screwvala. The film features Akshay Kumar in double roles opposite Sonakshi Sinha. It is a remake of the Ravi Teja starrer Telugu film Vikramarkudu marks the return of Akshay Kumar in the action genre after 7 years.

Speaking to Animationxpress.com, about the challenges faced during the project ,Rajeev Rajasekharan Visual Effects Supervisor said,”A team of 50 artists were involved in the VFX of the film. The most challenging part of the movie was to combine the elements shot on locations in Badami, Karnataka and Mumbai, Maharashtra to create the blast sequences. We wereinvolved since the first schedule of the film in December 2011.We went to Badami in Karnataka for four weeks with the crew filming action sequences. Our work included set extensions, adding CGI elements and chroma-key compositing. We used Boujou for tracking, Maya to create CG elements and Nuke for compositing.

There were a lot of key sequences but the intermission fight sequence which included Akshay Kumar playing a dual role was the best as we added CG weaponry and lots of blood to shots, filmed using a motion control rig but we tackled the complicated shots with ease as we were involved with the creative team right from the first day of shoot
till the date of release of Rowdy Rathore”added Rajeev.

Sharing the experience working on the film Abrez Mohammad VFX Line Producer said,”It was a wonderful experience working on ‘Rowdy Rathore’.The producer Mr. Sanjay Leela Bhansali and the director Mr. Prabhudeva gave the RMW team an opportunity to work with them on this film. The RMW VFX team of 50 artists worked for six weeks with a combined individual commitment and group effort…. that is what RMW teamwork is all about. The entire RMW team have played a critical role.

We are onto more challenging and path breaking projects and are expanding our team to cater to the ever increasing demands of the Indian film industry. Our successes lead us to our next steps”he concluded.
