Netflix releases official trailer of ‘Trash Truck’

Netflix has released the official trailer of their newest CG animated preschool series, Trash Truck. The series comes from first-time showrunner Max Keane, who was the production designer on his father Glen Keane’s Oscar-winning animated short, Dear Basketball.

It follows the adventures of a six-year-old Hank and his best friends Donny the raccoon, Walter the black bear, and the big green trash-collecting machine Trash Truck.

The project is already personal for Keane. His son Henry provides the voice for Hank. In addition, Glen Keane (Tarzan, Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid, Over the Moon) serves as the show’s executive producer and also the voice for both Hank’s grandpa and the Trash Truck.

“It’s definitely like my family’s time capsule,” says Max Keane, who voices Hank’s father in the show while his wife Megan Keane voices Hank’s mother. “I’ve gotten really lucky and been able to make a show that means so much to me, with people I really care about and love. Glen, my dad, is always talking about the importance of thinking like a child and being connected to that point of view. It’s what helps cultivate imagination, and to keep that thing alive.”

The voice cast also features Brian Baumgartner (The Office) as Walter, Olive Keane as Olive, Lucas Neff as Donny, and Jackie Loeb as Miss Mona.
The 12-episode first season premieres on Netflix on 23 October with Rim and Peilin Chou of Pearl Studios, serving as producers.

Netflix greenlights kids animated series, ‘Centaurworld’

Netflix has picked up a children’s animated series called Centaurworld, from first-time showrunner Megan Nicole Dong.

Centaurworld is centered around a war horse who is transported from her embattled world to a strange land inhabited by silly, singing centaurs of all species, shapes, and sizes. Desperate to return home, she befriends a group of these magical creatures and embarks on a journey that will test her more than any battle she’s ever faced before.

Dong worked as a story artist on DreamWorks Animation’s How to Train Your Dragon 2 and Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie and is a supervising director on Netflix’s kids’ show Pinky Malinky. She will executive produce the series alongside Dominic Bisignano (Star vs the Forces of Evil) who will serve as co-executive producer. Meghan McCarthy (My Little Pony franchise) will serve as story editor and Toby Chu (Bao) will be the series composer.

The series will join Netflix’s robust lineup of original animated series currently in production at Netflix Animation, including City of Ghosts from Elizabeth Ito, Kid Cosmic from Craig McCracken, Battle Kitty from Matt Layzell, Maya and the Three from Jorge Gutierrez, and Trash Truck from Max Keane.
