Tom and Jerry are back at it and this time, their never-ending chase is taking a turn through time. Zee Studios has teased Tom and Jerry: Forbidden Compass in a post on its official LinkedIn page, announcing that the animated adventure is set to hit Indian cinemas in October 2026.
“Some rivalries never get old. This time, they’re taking the chaos on a brand-new adventure,” Zee Studios wrote in the post.
The latest outing gives the iconic cat-and-mouse duo a magical twist. During one of their trademark chases through a museum, Tom and Jerry accidentally activate a mysterious compass that transports them to a distant era. Stranded in an ancient world, the unlikely rivals must put their feud aside and work together to find their way home.
Directed by Gang Zhang, the film mixes animation, adventure and comedy, with the pair facing new characters, dangerous forces and a world far removed from their familiar playgrounds. The story also puts a fresh spin on their famously chaotic relationship because apparently, even Tom and Jerry need a change of scenery after more than eight decades of chasing each other.
Tom and Jerry: Forbidden Compass is produced by China Film Co, a major Chinese state-owned film corporation, Origin Animation, a prominent Chinese digital animation production company and Warner Bros. Pictures. The film is positioned as a new adventure for one of animation’s most enduring rivalries, with the cat and mouse forced to swap slapstick warfare for an unlikely team-up.
With the compass pointing towards a new adventure and the duo heading for Indian cinemas in October, Tom and Jerry are once again proving that some chases simply refuse to run out of steam.
