VFX Flintstones to get a spin-off show from Warner Bros Animation

Warner Bros Animation and Salty Dog Pictures work on new ‘Flintstones’ spin-off show

The iconic Stone Age comedy cartoon The Flintstones is in works for a spin-off. The show titled Yabba Dabba Dinosaurs! is produced by Warner Bros Animation and Irish studio, Salty Dog Pictures.

The show was announced in May as an original series for Turner’s children’s OTT service Boomerang. Yabba Dabba Dinosaurs! will be produced by Mark Marek (MAD) and Marly Halpern-Graser (Right Now Kapow) with Sam Register serving as the executive producer and revolves around two best friends, Pebbles Flintstone and Bamm-Bamm Rubble featuring Pebbles’ pet dinosaur Dino.

Salty Dog was founded in 2013 by producer and director duo Deirdre Barry and Clifford Parrot. The company recently worked on Saturday Night Live’s animation The David S Pumpkins Halloween Special, which featured the voice of Tom Hanks and is is currently developing it first animated sitcom, The Mooneys, which is a futuristic comedy about an Irish-American family who make a new start on a moon colony and will be directed by Pete Michels (The Simpsons). Barry and Parrot are industry veterans who have worked with studios including Overseas Filmgroup, Disney, Cartoon Network, Renegade, Comedy Central and others.

Alongwith Yabba Dabba Dinosaurs!, Boomerang will also offer Scooby-Doo and Guess Who? and The Wind in the Willows.
