VFX studio Jellyfish Pictures expands into India and appoints Jasjit Singh to run operations

VFX and animation company Jellyfish Pictures has expanded into India and hired producer Jasjit Singh as general manager to run operations. As per a report by Deadline, the UK-based company has opened its production outpost in Mumbai.

Singh had joined the company in November 2022. Before that, he was a senior producer at DNEG Group-owned ReDefine, where he worked across post-production, VFX and animation production. He has also worked in Cosmos Maya and Prime Focus World, among other places. Of his new position, he said, “I am thrilled to have the opportunity to become part of the Jellyfish Pictures family. The company culture and ethics create a great place to work, and I anticipate an exciting and fast-paced future ahead of us.”

Jellyfish CEO David Patton said that Singh is one of the most admired leaders within the Indian VFX industry. “His proven experience in managing complex VFX projects, coupled with his excellent people-focused management skills, gives me great confidence that Jellyfish Pictures will quickly build a very strong and diverse talent base within India,” Patton added.

The company employs over 300 artists across five UK studios and has employed people around the world as well. As told to Deadline, the company will soon employ over 500 creatives based around the world. “Given that India is home to so many fantastic VFX and animation artists, it makes perfect sense for us to set up a base in Mumbai to ensure we are able to work closely with the very best of this incredible talent,” Patton told Deadline. He believes that the studio will have over 100 artists working from Mumbai by the end of this year.

Jellyfish’s body of work includes the films Solo: A Star Wars Story, The Last Jedi, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, How to Train Your Dragon: Homecoming, shows like Black Mirror: Hated in the Nation and documentaries such as Planet Dinosaur and Inside the Human Body.
