Second annual Jekyll Comic Con promises to surpass last year’s success

On the schedule are a number of discussion panels with experts in Cosplay, podcast broadcasting, filmmakers and literature

As one of the most exciting comic and fantasy themed conventions, the Jekyll Island Comic Convention was an outstanding success last year. The Jekyll Comic Con had over 1,400 attendees at its inaugural event and expect to at least double that this year. The management team is committed to make its sequel an even greater experience with more speakers, stars, comic artists and mind-boggling surprises. This one day celebration of all things nerdy will take place on Saturday, 12 December at the Jekyll Island Convention Center on the lovely resort destination of Jekyll Island, GA.

Jekyll Comic Con has a spectacular lineup with celebrity guests from beloved shows like Arrow, The Walking Dead and Comic Book Men. Anime and video game voice-over talent Leah Clark (Dragon Ball Z, Fullmetal Alchemist and Pokemon) and Tony Oliver (Robotech, Lupin III, Power Rangers and more). Also in attendance will be major comic book artists Andy Smith (Marvel, DC, Image), Brian Reber (DC), Wilfredo Torres (Marvel, Image), John Beatty (Marvel, DC) and the creator of Nickelodeon’s DOUG Jim Jinkins, as well as artists from Zenescope Entertainment, Fallen Manga Studios and Anomalous Comic. Adding some local flavor will also be a number of fan favorite artists from the region.

On the schedule are a number of discussion panels with experts in Cosplay, podcast broadcasting, filmmakers and literature. Attendees will also be able to participate in a number of kids, amateur and advanced Cosplay competitions for cash prizes. Open table-top gaming like Dungeons and Dragons, Yu-Gi-Oh and Magic: The Gathering will also be running throughout the duration of the convention. There will be a number of classic comic and anime movies screened throughout the day. And to cap the schedule, Jekyll Comic Con will also host a closing ceremony party with music, special guests and prizes!

Jekyll Comic Con has also partnered with the Wounded Warrior Project and the Humane Society of South Coastal Georgia. A portion of all ticket sales will be donated to these important charities along with proceeds from the raffles of select art pieces and other merchandise.

In order to make this year’s edition a greater success, Jekyll Comic Con will require financial support from its fans. The team has sponsored a crowdfunding campaign to raise $2,500 on Indiegogo; these funds will be used exclusively for hosting big name stars, sponsoring exciting forums, and putting on a lavish celebration that attendees deserve. In return for supporting this campaign, backers may receive perks like Certificates of Appreciation, Jekyll Comic Con posters, pins, T-shirts, private meet and greets with Jekyll Comic Con Calendar Models, hotel accommodations, convention Fast Passes and dinner with celebrity guests.
