Pokkt enters Philippines market partnering with Synergy88

Pokkt, the alternate monetisation platform for games and app developers and publisher has partnered with Synergy88; a Philippines based company that develops games, apps, animation and advertising.

“In a country that has 45 million smartphone users, I find it shocking that no Filipino game has made it to the Top 100 on the Google Play store,” commented Pokkt Global head of developer acquisitions Nimit Panpalia. “Filipinos are known to spend hours on games like Candy Crush and Clash of Clans, but hardly spend time playing any Filipino-made mobile games. We’d like to change that mindset,” he added.

Synergy88 has taken the challenge through a publishing initiative called 88GamePub: to find existing ‘good games’, polish them with new strategies and collectively take it to market.

“The goal is to create a collective of Filipino-made good games and merge Pokkt’s platform, which is an upward option to monetise non-paying users. We’re currently accepting game submissions till 20 March 2015,” stated Synergy88 Digital director of business development Alvin Juban. “The goal is to have 40-50 of the most notable Android games launched in the Philippine market, and then go to the neighbouring territories,” he added.

Reported by e27.co, the website states that the accepted applicants, will be expected to successfully participate in its three-month programme. Each game will be modified for integration to Pokkt’s system, which includes promoting other games in the collective. Other modifications are the addition of offer walls and non-invasive video ad screens, combined with proper implementation of Facebook and Google log-in and adherence to proper development guidelines.

After all the conditions are met, the modified games will be relaunched by 88GamePub and promoted online and through partnerships.

The games will be the focus of the three-month programme and will provide insight on what works in the Philippine market.

Pokkt has already established itself in the regional markets like Thailand, Indonesia and India. By partnering with Synergy88, it hopes to achieve the same success in Philippines. “We hope that the Philippines can join Pokkt to create a more cohesive mobile gaming market in Southeast Asia,” concluded Nimit.
