Nick to replicate last year’s Valentine’s Day success with ‘Valentoons’

Valentine’s Day is just a day away and kids’ channel Nick is celebrating the fest in its own special way. While the day is usually symbolised with adults who express their love for each other, Viacom18’s kids cluster will make it a special day for kids as well.

Nick has brought back the second edition of its successful ‘Kaun Banega Valentoon’ contest. It ran from 2 February to 10 February asking children about their favourite cartoon character from the channel.

As a gratification, selected children get a chance to meet their ‘valentoon’ on Valentine’s Day, thus making it a fun-filled activity for the young tots as well. Promotions have been ongoing through social media.

Winners will be announced on 14 February.

The idea of creating a valentoon came when Viacom18 EVP and kids cluster business head Nina Elavia Jaipuria was having a discussion with the Nick Bosses (a contest that ran for Children’s day allowing them to be the boss of the channel for one day). On being asked their opinion on Valentine’s day one of the little girls said that the festival requires a friend from the opposite sex. The channel then came up with the idea of pairing children with their favourite cartoon characters thus making it a Valen-toon.

Last year the channel had also arranged a digital party for kids to wish each other online and feel delighted on seeing their messages on the screen. The channel is looking to replicate the same this year as well.

While Sonic hasn’t done any celebration for V day, it will be lining up an exciting range of movie marathon for viewers from 15-21 February. Motu Patlu Kungfu Kings will premiere on Sunday, Motu Patlu in Wonderland on Monday, Motu Patlu Mission Moon on Tuesday, Keymon & Nani in Space Adventure on Wednesday, Motu Patlu Deep Sea Adventure on Thursday, Pakdam Pakdai Doggy Don vs Billiman on Friday and Motu Patlu aur Khazaane ki Race on Saturday. All movies wil be shown at 6:15 pm.

The channel keeps up its fan engagement activities, even as it tops the chart of the weekly TAM TV ratings. In an earlier interaction with us Nina had also mentioned that the channel will continue to engage with its young fans and work on the promise of increasing the ‘touch and feel’ quotient among its kiddie lovers.
