New Justice League comic reveals Wonder Woman’s India connection

In July, DC Universe’s animated film Justice League: Gods and Monsters was released as a digital download where we could see a parallel universe wherein the Justice League is a brutal force that maintains order on Earth and has its own versions of Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman.

In the film it was shown that Wonder Woman is Bekka of the New Gods and the reason why she fled from her people was revealed but she seems like she’s been on Earth for quite some time. In order to understand her background in the film, a prequel to her life will now be seen in a comic named Justice League: Gods and Monsters – Wonder Woman #1 which will hit the stores tomorrow, 5 August 2015.

What caught our eye is the fact that of all the places in Earth, she lands in a serene village in India in 1962. Bekka who has fought many battles gets warped to Earth in the Boom Tube. Having no memories of how she got here, she finds it amusing how in a time of constant warfare in other planets, the village was calming and the simple life of Indians was foreign to her.

We can see her wrapped in a nauvari saree and as it’s India, she has to spot a God somewhere. Mistaking the idol of Ganesha as a monster who followed her in the tube, a panic button got triggered in her but soon she comprehends that he was no monster, in fact he was a God. Looking at Ganesha’s sad yet wise eyes, she realizes that this is the planet which will give her shelter, hope and perhaps the Golden Age promised on new Genesis.

More facts about her journey to being a formative member of the Justice League will be seen in her future journey on Earth where she will encounter the monstrous genius of Doctor Psycho and the Shock Exchange.
