Hyderabad is set to become the meeting ground for India’s next generation of creative and intellectual property leaders as the Indian Council for Media, Entertainment & Gaming (ICMEG) announces the Media & Entertainment IP Summit 2026, scheduled for 27 and 28 November 2026.
Supported by the Government of Telangana, the landmark summit will bring together creators, studios, investors, technology companies, OTT platforms, broadcasters, publishers, gaming companies, startups, policymakers and global industry leaders to explore one of the defining opportunities of India’s creative economy: turning creative ideas into globally scalable intellectual property.
More than a conference, the Media & Entertainment IP Summit 2026 is being positioned as an IP-first industry platform where creativity meets capital, technology, distribution and global markets.
From creative talent to global IP
India has never faced a shortage of stories, creators or imagination. The bigger opportunity lies in converting that creative strength into enduring intellectual property original characters, worlds, stories, formats and franchises capable of creating value across film, streaming, animation, gaming, publishing, licensing, merchandising and immersive experiences.
The summit aims to accelerate this transition by bringing together the people who create, finance, develop, distribute and scale IP, creating new pathways for collaboration across India’s creative industries. The ambition is clear: to help move India from being one of the world’s largest creative production hubs to becoming one of the world’s leading creators and owners of intellectual property.
Hyderabad: building India’s creative future
The choice of Hyderabad as host city is both strategic and symbolic.
Telangana has emerged as one of India’s dynamic ecosystems for filmmaking, animation, VFX, gaming, artificial intelligence, technology and digital content. Hyderabad’s expanding creative and technology infrastructure, entrepreneurial ecosystem and industry-friendly environment are strengthening its position as a destination for global media and entertainment investment.
The Government of Telangana’s support for the summit further reinforces the state’s ambition to establish Hyderabad as a globally competitive destination for the creative economy.
The summit will build on this momentum by connecting Hyderabad’s strengths in technology, filmmaking and innovation with India’s wider creative ecosystem and international markets. Hyderabad is not simply a city where content is produced; it is emerging as a city where the future of India’s creative economy can be built.
A national platform for emerging talent
A major component of the summit will be the nationwide media & entertainment challenges, designed to discover, develop and showcase emerging talent across creative and technology disciplines.
Going beyond traditional competitions, the initiative will create opportunities for filmmakers, storytellers, animators, game developers, designers, creators, technologists and innovators to connect with industry experts, studios, investors and potential collaborators.
The larger vision is to create a national discovery and development pipeline for India’s next generation of creative IP.
Celebrating excellence through the IP awards
The summit will also host the Media & Entertainment IP Awards, recognising outstanding creators, entrepreneurs, studios, companies and industry leaders across media, entertainment, animation, gaming, technology, innovation and intellectual property.
The awards will celebrate those shaping India’s creative future while highlighting the ideas, businesses and technologies capable of creating global impact.
Where creativity meets global opportunity
The summit is expected to bring together distinguished speakers, investors, policymakers, founders, studio executives, creators and global industry experts across cinema, animation, gaming, AI, comics, publishing, immersive media and digital entertainment.
The convergence will create opportunities for meaningful connections across sectors:
- A filmmaker can meet a producer.
- A creator can meet a studio.
- A startup can meet an investor.
- An Indian IP can meet a global market.
That is the ecosystem ICMEG seeks to build.
Building India’s next global franchises
Globally successful IP can transcend a single film, series or game, creating long-term value across entertainment, licensing, publishing, merchandise, gaming and immersive experiences.
India has the talent, stories, technology and entrepreneurial energy to create its own generation of globally recognised franchises. What is needed is a stronger ecosystem connecting creativity with capital, technology, distribution and international markets.
The Media & Entertainment IP Summit 2026 aims to become that meeting point. It is not simply about celebrating what India’s creative industries have achieved. It is about building what comes next.
From stories to IP. From IP to franchises. From Hyderabad to the world.
