Disney Consumer Products readies for New York Toy Fair

As New York Toy Fair is about to commence soon, Disney Consumer Products has unveiled a toy line inspired by Disney Junior’s new intergalactic adventure television series Miles from Tomorrowland. This new series has a heartfelt and emotionally realistic take on life in outer space.

Disneystore.com began rolling out the Miles from Tomorrowland product line, made by Japanese toy maker Tomy, on 6 February. Disney Store locations will begin selling the products nationwide from 13 Feb onwards.

“Space exploration is incredibly rich territory for innovation, and we’re excited to launch a product collection that will capture kids’ imaginations and help bring STEAM themes to life at home,” said Disney Consumer Products, exec VP of global licensing, Josh Silverman in a statement.

Disney said the collection focuses on “outer space exploration, curiosity and adventure” and includes toys, books, role play, apparel home décor and accessories. Toys also include vehicles, figures, and playsets, as well as science facts for kids between 2-7 years of age from NASA and NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, the Space Tourism Society and Google experts.

The animated series follows a young adventurer Miles Callisto and his family as they help connect the galaxy on behalf of the Tomorrowland Transit Authority.

The show was launched last Friday and reached 2 million unique viewers and 697,000 children ages 2 to 5, ranking as the week’s No. 3 cable TV series among kids ages 2 through 8. Miles from Tomorrowland: Missions app also is the most downloaded Disney Junior app, and has managed to gather nearly 17 million video views since December.
