DHX Unveils Channel Rebrands

DHX Television has revealed the results of its previously announced plans to extend the Family Channel brand to three of its other children’s entertainment outlets. The rebranded networks, Family Jr., Télémagino and CHRGD, will launch in the fall.

The company altered its original naming plans somewhat. Initially, its English- and French-language versions of Disney Junior were to be called Family Junior and Famille Junior, respectively. Now to be known as Family Jr. (Eng.) and Télémagino (Fr.), the channels will be aimed at preschoolers 2-5 and will air shows like British imports Twirlywoos and Teletubbies, as well as Disney shows like Jake and the Never Land Pirates, Sheriff Callie’s Wild West and Henry Hugglemonster, and returning toons Thomas & Friends, Justin Time and Strawberry Shortcake.

Family Jr. will additionally offer Curious George and Sinking Ship Entertainment’s original puppet series Playdate.

CHRGD — formerly Disney XD and previously dubbed Family XTRM — will carry series, specials and movies for kids ages 6-12. Animated titles include Mattel’s Team Hot Wheels, Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures and The Deep, which will join Disney’s Mighty Med, Phineas and Ferb and Penn Zero: Part-Time Hero. DHX will also add in its original productions Gaming Show (In My Parents’ Garage), a live-action show from B-Minors; season four of Nerd Corps’ Slugterra and Radical Sheep’s new adventure toon Fangbone!

All three rebranded channels will be complemented by on-demand and broadband programs.
