Content Malaysia brings together the film, TV, audio-visual and content creation industry

Content Malaysia has been specifically designed for the Malaysian Film, TV and content creation industry. This three day event held from the 17 to 19 September at Mandarin Oriental Hotel, Kuala Lumpur will feature an exciting line-up of conferences, dynamic master-classes and pitching sessions from both local and global industry players. This year’s edition of Content Malaysia will include local & regional speakers from Freemantle Asia, Discovery Asia, BBC Worldwide, Media Prima, Pinewood Iskandar Malaysia Studios, KRU Studios, Astro Shaw and many more.

The purpose of Content Malaysia will not only be to foster a conducive ecosystem for the local content development community, but will also act as an international tool to further the country’s goals and position Malaysia as the central creative hub of South East Asia.

“Together with The Ministry of Communications and Multimedia (KKMM) we’re aiming to utilise our country’s multimedia industry as one of the key elements in evolving our nation into a developed country of enterprise and modern commerce. We at FINAS are positioning Malaysia as the creative content destination for international production houses to develop and co-develop within the nation. This is in line with the ‘Film in Malaysia Incentive’ (FIMI programme) that offers a 30 per cent cash rebate for TV and film content to be developed in Malaysia.”

Finas together with CCAM have launched Content Malaysia as the region’s industrial platform for the creative community to showcase their content and work collectively as a whole and learn about the latest trends as well as collaborate on fresh transnational creative content from Malaysia. The event also aims to educate the community on various government sponsored initiatives as well as provide pitching session opportunities to facilitate business and content development growth within the region.

Datuk HJ Mohd. Affendi, Chairman of FINAS said: “This is our first year hosting Content Malaysia and we’re excited to be showcasing to the local and international community the expanding world-class content and technology that Malaysia has to offer. Our hopes for Content Malaysia are that it will provide the lucrative groundwork for industry professionals to develop and expand their industry knowledge and business networks. We hope that this annual event will serve as a beacon and an inspiration to the community to collaborate together in developing world class content and talent from Malaysia.”

Dato’ Kamal Khalid, Chairman of CCAM Content Malaysia will be one of the key components at this year’s KL Converge! The nation’s telecommunications and broadcasting conference, hosted by The Ministry of Multimedia and Communications (KKMM).
