Bengal AVGC-XR Association’s maiden initiative ‘Spectrum Summit’ wraps successfully

Bengal AVGC-XR Association in partnership with Twilight Post successfully concluded Spectrum Summit 2024: Banglar AVGC-XR Event. Held on 15 April 2024, this pioneering event brought together industry leaders, professionals, and enthusiasts to celebrate the vibrant and rapidly evolving landscape of animation, visual effects, gaming, and extended reality (AVGC-XR) industry in West Bengal. 

The association shared in a statement that the  AVGC-XR industry is recognised as a sunrise sector by the government of India, with significant growth potential. Presently employing 2.6 lakh individuals, it is projected to expand to 26 lakhs by 2032. 

Spectrum Summit 2024 marked a stellar lineup of keynotes speakers and chief guests, including renowned figures such as FICCI AVGC-XR Forum chairman Ashish Kulkarni, Webel managing director Sanjay Kumar Das,  MESC CEO Mohit Soni, Invest India VP and FFO head Shurti Rajkumar, VFX Express founder cum TVAGA board member Ritto Prabu, Pierre Angénieux ExcelLens award winning cinematographer Modhura Palit, Twilight Post founder and CEO Abhishek Ghorui, Bengal AVGC-XR Association president and Hitech Animation MD Subrata Roy and Bengal AVGC-XR Association vice president Niloy Kanti Biswas.

The event provided a platform for fruitful discussions, insightful presentations, and networking opportunities aimed at fostering partnerships and driving growth in the sector. The presence of Comics Publishers Association president Ajitesh Sharma and Bengali film director Dhrubo Bannerjee added depth and perspective to the discussions, highlighting the interconnectedness of the AVGC industry with other creative sectors.

Soni reiterated the importance of skill development in ensuring the industry’s sustained growth. The signing of an MOU between the MESC and the Bengal AVGC-XR Association further underscores their commitment to nurturing talent and enhancing skilling initiatives within the region.

Panel discussions explored emerging trends in the AVGC industry, intellectual property creation, and the role of educational institutions in nurturing talent. These discussions underscored the importance of collaboration and innovation in realising the full potential of the AVGC industry in West Bengal.

A highlight of Sectrum Summit 2024, was the launch of the Bengal AVGC-XR Association’s official website, www.avgcxrbengal.org, providing a centralised platform for industry stakeholders in West Bengal to connect, collaborate, and access resources to drive the growth of the AVGC-XR ecosystem. Looking ahead, the Bengal AVGC-XR Association aims to collaborate with the West Bengal government to position Bengal as a hub for the animation, VFX, gaming, and comics industry, and to share the rich cultural narratives of Bengal with the global audience.
