If unconditional love exists, it’s a mother’s love. A woman is strong, but when she is a mother, she becomes invincible. Whatever we are, what we would become, it will always be because of this woman who stands by us through thick and thin, who wouldn’t give up on us and who’d fight the world for her children. Here’s a tribute to the strong mothers in animation! Raksha (The Jungle Book) She is a female Indian wolf, member of the Seeonee pack, who while suckling her own cubs decides also to adopt a human “cub” that her mate Father Wolf has found wandering in the jungle, naming him “Mowgli” Raksha keeps offering moral support to her adopted son time and again. Kala (Tarzan) Kala saves the infant Tarzan from the murderous fury of Kerchak, the leader of the ape band, after the latter kills Tarzan’s human father. She goes on to rear the human baby as her own while protecting him against Kerchak and her own mate, Tublat. Bao’s mom (Bao) The aging and lonely Chinese-Canadian mother, suffering from empty nest syndrome, receives an unexpected second chance at motherhood when she makes a steamed bun (baozi) that comes to life as a boy. Her motherly love is visible throughout, while she raises the steamed bun as her child. Queen Elinor (Brave) A vision of grace, wisdom and strength of character, Queen Elinor is fiercely dedicated to the well-being of her family and kingdom. Being a mother, she plays the role of a authoritaian figure in Merida’s life. Helen Parr (Incredibles 2) Helen Parr, known by the superhero name ‘Elastigirl’ is a resourceful and dexterous superhero, simultaneously playing a doting mother to three super kids. She is quick-witted, resourceful, talented, passionate, driven, and supportive, and an ultimate. Using both her superpowers and her innate abilities as a wife and mother she unifies her family, and protects them at all costs. Eudora (The Princess and the Frog) The mother of Princess Tiana and her confidante, who wants her to be happy, Eudora is very supportive of Tiana’s dreams of becoming a professional chef and having her own restaurant. Valka (How to train your Dragon 2) Valka is a strong, uncompromising vigilante who also turned out to be Hiccup’s long-lost mother. Always an advocate of peace between dragons and Vikings, Valka has since lived among dragons, learned their ways, discovered their secrets and become their fierce protector. She is strong and uncompromising, but at her core still possesses the overwhelming love of a wife and mother. Happy Mother’s Day!
