Adult animated comedy ‘Crossing Swords’ arriving on Hulu on 12 June

Hulu has released the first trailer of its new stop-motion adult toon created and written by Robot Chicken EPs John Harvatine IV and Tom Root, titled Crossing Swords. The Playmobil-inspired animation style is unique and playful. Directed by Harvatine, Crossing Swords follows Patrick (Nicholas Hoult), a good-hearted peasant who lands a coveted squire position at the royal castle. But his dream job quickly turns into a nightmare when he learns his beloved kingdom is run by a hornet’s nest of horny monarchs, crooks and charlatans. Even worse, Patrick’s valor made him the black sheep in his family, and now his criminal siblings have returned to make his life hell. The voice cast is led by Hoult, Luke Evans (The Alienist, Dracula Untold) as the King, Adam Pally (Archibald’s Next Big Thing, The Mindy Project), Tara Strong (My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic, Rick and Morty), Tony Hale (Archibald’s Next Big Thing, Arrested Development), Adam Ray, Alanna Ubach, Breckin Meyer, Maya Erskine, Seth Green, Wendi McClendon-Covey and Yvette Nicole Brown. All 10 episodes of Crossing Swords season one will be available on Hulu, starting tomorrow. It seems that streaming platforms have been trying to tap into the adult animated comedy market with their original titles, like Netflix’s Big Mouth and Bojack Horseman, and Apple TV+’s Central Park.
