Academy receives 25 animated feature submissions for ninety-first awards held next year

We aren’t even through to 2019 yet, but the race for next year’s Oscars is already heating up: the Academy of Motion Picture and Sciences revealed that it has received as many as 25 submissions for the Animated Feature Film category, ranging from Hollywood productions to that of overseas.

Some big-budget releases of the year such as Incredibles 2, Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, Smallfoot, Teen Titans Go! To the Movies, have all entered the race, unsurprisingly. However, the list also features certain animation productions that haven’t met the theatrical release requirements yet, and wouldn’t make it to the voting process until the condition is satisfied. And as a matter of fact, films submitted in this category also qualify for the Academy Awards in other categories, such as the Best Picture.

The final nominations for the Academy Awards 2019 would be announced on 22 January 2019. The mainevent would take place at the Dolby Theatre at Hollywood & Hyland Center in Hollywood on Sunday, 24 February 2019.
