Tesla’s in-car gaming likely to integrate with Valve’s Steam

Tesla is apparently planning to add Steam to its lineup of in-car games. Tesla CEO Elon Musk has stated that the electric car maker is getting closer to integrating Valve’s Steam to a whole new level in its in-car gaming platform. Musk tweeted about the latest update.

Tesla currently has a limited range of games. Tesla Arcade, a gaming collection accessible through the in-car monitor screen in Teslas, offers about 20 games. The collection of games includes classic Atari titles from the 1980s, the farming simulator Stardew Valley, and 1991’s Sonic the Hedgehog from Sega. But integrating Steam’s digital shop might open up a good amount of options for players. It is still not known whether the connection would go so far as to let users buy things on Steam while driving or if there will be any games that Tesla won’t be able to play.

There has been no progress on Musk’s promises to add more contemporary and graphical-impressive games to the platform. In June 2021, Tesla CEO demonstrated the 2019 game Cyberpunk 2077 on a Tesla Model S Plaid, claiming that the model’s AMD graphics system provided PS5-level performance. However, as of now, Tesla’s gaming selection is limited to titles with low system requirements.

With its prior attempts to transform its vehicles into game consoles, Tesla courted controversy. Tesla released an update last summer that enables users to play several of its games while the vehicle is in motion.
