‘Apex Legends Mobile’ to open for regional beta in India and Philippines later this month

The cross-platform battle royale game Apex Legends Mobile is now available for pre-registration in India and the Philippines. The game is only available for Android users at the moment as per the official blog post.

“Beginning later this month, we’re kicking off the first regional beta tests for Apex Legends Mobile. This is a huge moment for our team. Two years ago we changed the landscape of the battle royale genre, and now we’re aiming to do it again on mobile,” reads the official Apex Legends game director Chad Grenier’s blog on the official website.

EA Games has officially announced the release of Apex Legends Mobile along with details about its first regional beta test starting later this month. The game was in the works for quite some time and judging from the early impressions of the game, their hard work has paid off as Apex Legends Mobile is truly worthy of an AAA mobile game title.

Earlier during the Nintendo launch of Apex Legends, Grenier said “Work on a mobile version of Apex Legends is well underway. And later this year, we’ll launch new ways to play the game that take us beyond battle royale. For us, Apex Legends is more than a game. It brings people together, it unifies players, it entertains, it takes our minds off of the real world, even if just for 30 minutes a day. It’s an avenue for artists, writers, streamers, and content creators to express themselves. It’s also a game that takes a stance on the importance of diversity.”

The mobile version of the game was first announced about two years back. Now EA seems to be ready with the rollout. It says that the beta version of Apex Legends Mobile will possibly be available by the end of this month. Before it is out, EA will allow interested users to sign up or pre-register for the version in India.

According to the post, “Apex Legends Mobile is specially designed for touchscreens, with streamlined controls and thoughtful optimizations that result in the most advanced battle royale combat available on a phone. It’s a new version of Apex Legends, but it’s true to the original.”

Here are the few FAQs that EA shared along with the announcement:

When will Apex Legends Mobile become available in my region?

We’ll be steadily rolling out Apex Legends Mobile around the world in a series of tests. To start with, we’ll do a series of smaller closed beta tests in India and the Philippines.

The first of these begins Spring 2021, and will only be available on Android devices. As we continue with testing, we’ll expand the size of these tests, add new regions, and implement iOS support. When we’re ready to go broader, we’ll launch a page that allows you to pre-register for the game and sign up for news about the betas.

Will Apex Legends Mobile feature cross-play with other versions of the game?

Because Apex Legends Mobile is being built specially for mobile, it won’t feature cross-play with the console or PC versions of Apex Legends

Will Apex Legends Mobile be free-to-play?

Yep, like PC and console, Apex Legends Mobile is free-to-play and never includes paid items that grant a gameplay advantage. Apex Legends Mobile will feature its own Battle Passes, collectible cosmetics, and unlockables unique from those found in the PC and console versions of Apex Legends.

Is the regular Apex Legends team also working on Apex Legends Mobile?

Yes! We’ve built a dedicated team here at Respawn filled with experts in mobile game development to lead the creation of Apex Legends Mobile, but it’s a collaborative effort with our established Apex Legends team and other partners.
