Digital Media Job Fair attracts thousands of youngsters

India’s First Digital Media Job Fair was inaugurated by Mr.K.B.Nagendra Murthy – Managing Director & CEO of Tamilnadu Mercantile Bank. The job fair was organized by IMAGE INFOTAINMENT LTD, a pioneer in the field of Digital Media with over 2 decades of experience. The fair was hosted by imediajobs – A job portal specializing in Media, Design, & various creative job openings.

The turnout was impressive with over 3500 students walking in during 15th and 16th Dec. Earlier, the job portal received online registrations of more than 6500 youngsters. 22 Leading Digital Media Companies like Sun Network, Prasad Group, Dhruva Interactive, Future works, TNQ Journal, Williams Lea, Xentrix studio, Nittany, Bot VFX, SPI Global, Maya bazaar, Digital dreams post, Laser words, Concentrix, Post Box, Film restore, J2K Entertainment, Xerago etc. from Chennai, Bangalore and Hyderabad conducted interviews, written tests and short listed 850 people for the final round which would be held at their company premises. The fair is expected to provide more than  500 jobs consisting of freshers as well as experienced professionals with skills in Game Modeling, Game Texturing, Character modeling, Set & BG Modeling, Character Rigging, 3D Lighting, Rotoscopy, Compositing, Matte Painting, Flash Designing, Flash programming, Web Designing, HTML programming, Copy writing, proof reading, Video editing, 3D Camera tracking, 2D Animation etc.

The Media and entertainment industry is one of the fast growing sectors in Indian Economy. The sector has a size of 628 billion and is experiencing a CAGR of 15% per year. The current work force for media and entertainment industry stands at 1.1 million. The industry requires around 4 to 4.1 million people in the years to come. Image Infotainment Ltd has taken the first positive step in pooling several leading Digital Media Companies like Prasad Group, Sun Network, Xentrix Studio, Dhruva Interactive, Future Works, TNQ Journal, MPS, Williams Lea and has successfully connected the employers and job seekers through this unprecedented event. The job seekers had come from almost all parts of Tamilnadu which gave a hope that the gap between the demand and supply of quality manpower in this sector would be fulfilled in the near future.

A special workshop on “How to build a Media Portfolio” was presented by Dhurva interactive and it was attended by several final year students of Engineering & Arts and Science Colleges of Chennai. Many Placement Heads of these colleges appreciated the usefulness and the timing of this job fair and assured continuous support for such initiatives.
