Sneak-peak of ‘Kang the Conqueror #2’ hints at a significant Moon Knight connection

Marvel Comics has revealed an official preview for Kang the Conqueror #2, which is due to hit comic shops on 15 September and features a couple of interesting Marvel Cinematic Universe connections.

August’s issue #1 revealed that Kang’s greatest weakness is his love for Ravonna Renslayer. Marvel’s preview for Kang the Conqueror #2 finds Nathaniel in ancient Egypt during the reign of Rama-Tut, another Kang variant. Nathaniel is nearly killed by Rama-Tut’s forces before an ancient Egyptian variant of Moon Knight springs into action to make the save. As it turns out, this version of Moon Knight is none other than the aforementioned Ravonna.

A five-part limited series from writers Collin Kelly and Jackson Lanzing and artist Carlos Magno, Kang the Conqueror gives a definitive origin story to the eponymous, legendary Marvel villain. The series follows Nathaniel Richards, a variant of Kang, as he traverses various alternate timelines and learns about his history as a supervillain.

Kang is expected to be a major player in the MCU going forward. Played by Lovecraft Country‘s Jonathan Majors, Kang is slated to serve as the main antagonist of the upcoming Marvel Studios film Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, which is due to hit theaters in February 2023. Majors recently made his MCU debut as a Kang variant known as ‘He Who Remains’ in the season one finale of Marvel Studios’ Disney+ original series Loki. Loki also saw the MCU debut of Ravonna Renslayer, played by The Morning Show star Gugu Mbatha-Raw.
