Netflix drops character posters, new teaser of upcoming ‘League of Legends’ animated series ‘Arcane’

The popular video game franchise League of Legends is headed to the small screen with the new animated series, Arcane. Netflix and Riot Games unveiled the first character posters for the upcoming series ahead of its trailer debut at the streaming site’s upcoming Tudum fan event on 25 September.

The main plot of the series will focus on the rivalry of sisters Vi (voiced by Hailee Steinfeld) and Jinx (voiced by Ella Purnell). Steinfeld who will also be seen as the new Hawkeye – Kate Bishop, will voice the pink-haired bruiser alongside Purnell who is known for Army of the Dead and the upcoming Star Trek: Prodigy.

The new character posters and teaser confirms the presence of champions Viktor (voiced by Harry Lloyd), Jayce (voiced by Kevin Alejandro), and Caitlyn (voiced by Katie Leung). There are also three characters that are not yet champions but could become in the future, if the series is a hit: Silco (voiced by Jason Spisak), Mel (voiced by Toks Olagundoye), and Vander (voiced by JB Blanc). Each character got their own poster, indicating they’ll play a big part in Vi and Jinx origin story.

Here’s the official series description: Set in the utopian region of Piltover and the oppressed underground of Zaun, Arcane follows the origins of two iconic League champions-and the power that will tear them apart.

The upcoming animated series is being produced internally by Riot Games in collaboration with Fortiche Productions, which has worked frequently with Riot on animated shorts for League of Legends in the past.

Netflix’s Tudum global virtual fan event will be broadcast across the streaming service’s YouTube channels and social media pages beginning this Saturday. The event will feature appearances from some of Netflix’s biggest stars for a day full of exclusives and first looks at new and returning content, including Stranger Things, Bridgerton, and The Witcher, among many others.

Arcane is set to hit Netflix in fall 2021, while a new trailer will be released on 25 September.
