Pixelloid Studios Delivers Visual Effects for Universal Media’s Naayak

Following up with the stellar effects of the Telugu Blockbusters ‘Cameraman Gangatho Rambabu’, ‘Julayi’ and ‘DCM’, Hyderabad based Pixelloid Studios has recently delivered 127 VFX Shots for Universal Media’s Telugu action comedy film ‘Naayak’.

Around 50 artists from the visual effects division of Pixelloid were deployed for this project. ‘Naayak’ includes a large number of VFX shots using techniques like rotoscoping, green/blue screenshot, Digital Matte painting, chroma compositing and numerous clean ups.

Using a customized pipeline designed for the complexity of these shots, which was completed in a two month period, Pixelloid has used extensive set-extensions, wire-removals and chroma-keying that have been used to create CG backgrounds since the film has a lot of action sequences

nullPresiding over the team is Founder and Sr. VFX Supervisor of Pixelloid Studios, Yugandhar Tammareddy, Naresh Yalla, Muneswara Rao, Tirumalla and Srinivas Inugurty among others.

Naayak  is a 2013 Telugu action comedy film directed by V. V. Vinayak and starring Ram Charan Teja, Kajal Aggarwal and Amala Paul in lead roles. The film was produced by D. V. V Danayya under Universal Media banner. The soundtrack was composed by S. Thaman. It was dubbed into Tamil & Malayalam under the same title.

Yugandhar Tammareddy is an award winning VFX Supervisor and Entrepreneur. His 14 years of experience and work in over 100 films have earned him a niche in the industry.

Talking to Animationxpress.com’s Ishpreet Chandock, Yugandhar Tammareddy, Founder and Sr. VFX Supervisor, Pixelloid Studios shares,” Based on our portfolio and reputation for the quality we deliver, the Director and the DOP called us to involve in this project.”

“He wanted to show beautiful landscapes which are Exotic, Mystical and Believable. Instead of going to the different locales under extreme conditions with entire cast and crew he approached us on the idea of replacing the entire background with CGI.”

“The movie was a challenge for us and the chance to exploit our creative capabilities. We were glad that he was very happy with the work we have been able to pull up in a short span of time.”

Adding more on the important sequences in the film, he says” The two most important sequences to me were the Water fall and Black Rock sequences. We had to create different backgrounds with new concepts which had to look original and refreshing which required to go through the photographs of various places for designing the visual elements and had to match to the environment in which actors have been shot. In one of the sequence actors were shot in interior set so we had to match the lighting of the background which is a desert. The Terrains and Vegetation were created in 3D.”

“Every shot had extensive roto and keying for matte which had to be dealt with intricately. In all the three BGs, minute detailing was given to the matte paints. There was one particular shot in the sequence which had multiple layers and morphing of the hero character had to be done along with the large scale roto work. The VFX work in Naayak has definitely been very exigent and challenging to the entire team.”

Sharing his experience of working on Naayak he says“My experience working on Naayak was great. With Director V. V. Vinayak I enjoyed lot of creative freedom. Apart from Director’s inputs I had a chance to experiment both technically and creatively. The whole team at Pixelloid has worked hard on this venture , I would like to thank Pawar Arun, Muneshwar,  Ramarao, Ajay Tangudu, Anil, Srinivas Raju, Kartheek, Sivaprasad, Manidhar, Naresh, Somesh. Mohan Ankoji for their support.”

“Visual Effects industry is facing a tough situation all over the globe. Filmmakers’ vision is being achieved with greater precision and the demand is increasing. We are providing the services like Pre-Visualization and Post-Visualization by enabling to translate their vision and helping them plan and cut their costs. The reason for crisis in the industry is the allocation of Budget to the VFX needs to improve in proportionate to the demand in Quality.”

“We at Pixelloid try to produce the best work for each of clients and  want to create our own IP movie based on visual effects. We hope to continue to deliver more such movies in the future.” he concluded.

Pixelloid has successfully trained about 1000 individuals in the field of 3D Animation & Visual Effects till date and are placed at many reputed studios like Rhythm & Hues, Prime Focus, DQ Entertainment, Tata Elxi, Nipuna, Pixion & EFX among others. Currently Pixelloid Studio is working on Director Vamsi Paidipalli’s next Yevadu, Trivikram and Sukumar’s upcoming movies.
