FutureWorks creates mindblowing VFX for Relaxo TVC

FutureWorks recently delivered around 40 VFX shots for the latest Relaxo’s TVC starring Super Star Salman khan. The VFX as well as the Color Grade of the film was done at Future Works.

A large number of VFX shots used advanced techniques like Digital Matte Paintings, CG environments, FX & Dynamics and complex CG Compositing.Completed within a short span of 20 days, a team of artists did a brilliant job in integrating CG with live action elements. The VFX team was led by Abhishek De, Creative Director and VFX Supervisor Smit Shah.

The TVC directed by Shashanka Ghosh promotes Relaxo – a footwear brand and shows Salman Khan battling against all ‘elementic’ odds of fire, snow and water to save ‘damsels in distress’.

Abhishek De- Creative Director

Talking about the TVC, Abhishek De said, ”The Relaxo TVC  is a very VFX heavy commercial. Right from the very initial stages, Shashanka always wanted tongue-in-cheek humor as the tone of the film. When Smit and I were first approached for the film, we got down to storyboarding the entire script with the director. We decided to construct three separate setups for the film and enhance them  through complicated CG elements like Water, Fire and Snow. A visual scale beyond belief was created through Matte Paintings and CG Sets.”

Smit and Abhishek added that, “The film was always conceived as something that is going to be over the top. Thus we went ahead with very saturated fun and larger than life colors. Although Salman Khan was scaling burning buildings and pulling off the impossible by walking on the surface of deep sea waters – there was always an humourous angle to it.” It is fair to say that the storytelling was enhanced through innovative use of CG techniques and visual imagery.

Smit Shah - VFX Art Director

When asked which was the most challenging sequence, Smit says, “The Fire Sequence is the most challenging sequence. We had VFX Fire and Smoke elements, CG debris, multiple
practical FX plates and dynamic enhancements. It is very necessary for the fire to look visually realistic and we are proud that the entire team of Future Works managed to transmute the Director’s vision to reality.”

Talking about his experience working with Salman, Abhishek says,”Future Works had a lot of fun working on this commercial. It is always fun to work with Salman, we have worked with him on several TVC’s before this and we share a special understanding with each other of the working process.”

Future works is a leading VFX facility. Previously delivered notable projects include commercials for ‘Suzuki Hayatte’, ‘Dixcy Scott’ and feature films  such as Pooja Bhatts’s ‘Jism 2’, David Dhawan’s ‘Rascals’, Pankaj Kapoor’s ‘Mausam’, Rohan Sippy’s ‘Dum Maro Dum’, Mani Shankar’s ‘Knockout’, Anees Bazmee’s ‘No Problem’, Ram Gopal Varma’s ‘Raktha Charitra’ and Anil Kapoor’s ‘Aisha’.

With a robust pipeline of orders, Futureworks is one of the few studios in India that are raising the bar of the VFX to the next level.
