Subhash Ghai’s ‘Kaanchi’ to be First Bollywood Film to Release With Revolutionary Sound Auro 11.1 by Barco

Kaanchi: The Unbreakable, a romantic masterpiece by director Subhash Ghai, will premiere in theaters across India in Auro 11.1 by Barco. The highly anticipated Hindi movie is the latest in a series of top productions to be mixed with Auro 11.1 immersive sound technology and is testament to the success of the platform in the Indian movie industry.

Auro 11.1, Barco’s next-generation immersive sound technology, creates the most impactful motion picture experience. Its unique three-layer approach allows for an envelopment of sound unmatched by any other system. Since its release in 2010, the fully immersive sound of Auro 11.1 has been rapidly conquering the Indian movie scene. Both theaters and production studios have embraced the format, resulting in an impressive number of installations so far.

The cinema industry of India, also known as “Bollywood”, is based in Mumbai. Film production company Mukta Arts plays a major role within this industry. It has been producing movies for over 30 years and is now one of India’s largest film production companies. The movies of Mukta Arts are about to get even more impressive for audiences, as their upcoming movie “Kaanchi” is mixed using the Auro-3D Studio System.

Known for embracing and introducing new technology in his films, Subhash Ghai will once again introduce a new and revolutionary sound technology, Auro 11.1 with his upcoming venture “Kaanchi”.

Enhanced cinematic experience
Subhash Ghai, Director of “Kaanchi”, said, “I am just blown away with this new sound technology of Auro 3D 11.1, with sound waves coming from all directions. I can’t think of releasing “Kaanchi” without this magnum sound technology in theatres. Kaanchi has that canvas of locales in the first half and complexities of sound in the second half, which this technology will enhance. You will have to wait, watch to experience.”

Chaitanya Chinchlikar, Vice President – Mukta Arts said, “When you understand the concept of 11.1, 7.1, 5.1 and why Auro need 48-50 speakers and also when you understand what is object based sound, what is channel based sound you understand why Auro is more natural and closer to what a human ear would naturally hear.”

“We checked the possibilities that we have with Auro and found that Auro really has a huge leverage as far as technology and adaptability is concerned and it was easier than the competition products. When we found the results after seeing the tests we found that it will help us big time with the film. We are doing it for the film and propagating it in the industry also. I believe like Hollywood, Bollywood soon will have large set ups for Auro. Also, Auro gives auromatic experience even in the theaters that do not have Auro set ups,” said Rajesh R Nair, COO-Motion Pictures, Mukta Arts Ltd.

Maximum compatibility
The success of Auro across Indian movie theaters is no coincidence by any means. Apart from the unique immersive sound quality, the system is perfectly compatible with existing 5.1 installations. The system demands minimal hardware investments and achieves maximum results in 3D sound with a minimum number of speakers. On top of that, the platform is capable of supporting future immersive standards as they become available.

This is not for the first time Auro is associated with Mukta Arts family. Recently, Mukta Arts Ltd. choose Auro-3D Studio System for their Whistling Woods International (WWI) film, fashion and media institute.
