The game turned feature film received such an appealing response in China possibly due to a huge chunk of World of Warcraft gamers present in the nation.

The horror thrill attracted eyeballs due to its name and past performance but failed to intrigue audiences as compared to its first venture. The Conjuring 2 made its domestic opening with $16.4 on Friday, $14.04 on Saturday and $9.8 million on Sunday to lead to its domestic weekend collection to $40.4 million.

This is one of the biggest opening for a horror film in North America inclusive of almost 24 markets. However, the movie collected $50 million from its foreign market leading to a worldwide weekend collection of $90.35 million till date.

The Conjuring 2 has been made with a budget of $40 million while, Warcraft has been curated against a budget of $160 million. Both the movies have till date earned more globally than what has been invested in their creation. Still, both the movies have a scope for increasing their collection due to its distinct genres and large target audience.

Another visually appealing movie Now You See Me 2 which opened in the US earned $23.02 million domestically and $22.8 million from the foreign market leading to its worldwide weekend collection of $45.8 million. The movie is yet to release in India.
