After Frozen & Big Hero 6, Disney goes ‘wild’ with Zootopia

The Mouse House aka Walt Disney Animation Studios that created hits like Tangled, Frozen and more recently Big Hero 6 has released the first trailer for it new movie Zootopia. The movie will arrive in theatres on 4 March, 2016.

Starring Jason Bateman as a sly fox who is framed for a crime he didn’t commit and Ginnifer Goodwin as the cop tasked with tracking him down, the trailer introduces everyone to the new world of animals in clothes and professions that Disney has created.

Jason Bateman’s monologue carries the trailer entirely as it sets up the world of animals, by the animals and for the animals, the characters, the dynamics between the different ‘anthropomorphic’ animals, and offers some giggles as well.

The fun little clip makes good use of texts and animation to communicate very strongly to the audience that this is one movie that they should not miss in the coming year.

Helmed by Byron Howard (Tangled) and Rich Moore (Wreck-it Ralph), Zootopia comes with great lineage. Walt Disney Animation Studios is certainly going strong and firing all cylinders, after making the record-breaking Frozen and followed it up with last year’s Oscar winner Big Hero 6.

It remains to be seen if Zootopia could continue to chug along the success track, or will it be derailed by a larger live-actioner.

Synopsis of ‘Zootopia’:

The modern mammal metropolis of Zootopia is a city like no other. Comprised of habitat neighborhoods like ritzy Sahara Square and frigid Tundratown, it’s a melting pot where animals from every environment live together – a place where no matter what you are, from the biggest elephant to the smallest shrew, you can be anything.

But when optimistic Officer Judy Hopps arrives, she discovers that being the first bunny on a police force of big, tough animals isn’t so easy. Determined to prove herself, she jumps at the opportunity to crack a case, even if it means partnering with a fast-talking, scam-artist fox, Nick Wilde, to solve the mystery.

Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Zootopia, a comedy-adventure directed by Byron Howard (Tangled, Bolt) and Rich Moore (Wreck-It Ralph, The Simpsons) and co-directed by Jared Bush (Penn Zero: Part-Time Hero), opens in theaters on 4 March, 2016.
