Tara DeSimone is back at Outpost VFX and Montreal is about to get busier. The visual-effects studio has appointed DeSimone as executive producer in Montreal, bringing a familiar face back into the fold as the Quebec market continues to evolve.
In her new role, DeSimone will oversee operations, delivery and client services in the region. She will report to production director Kate Warburton.
For DeSimone, the move is a return to familiar territory. She previously served as Frontier VFX managing director, an Outpost VFX subsidiary based in Quebec, before the sub-brand was folded into Outpost in 2023.
During her time at Frontier VFX, DeSimone helped develop cloud-based VFX workflows and standards, while overseeing projects including The Witcher, Day Shift and The Gray Man. Now she is back, with a fresh brief: build on Montreal’s momentum and bring in more work.

Montreal has plenty to keep the studio’s artists busy. Outpost’s local team has worked on IT: Welcome to Derry, Monarch: Legacy of Monsters and Captain America: Brave New World. Its work on Foundation earned Emmy nominations for both season one in 2022 and season three in 2026.
The wider Outpost group has also recently contributed to The Dog Stars, The Uprising and Wicked: For Good, alongside Academy Award nominees Sinners and The Lost Bus.
With DeSimone back in the driver’s seat, Outpost is betting that Montreal’s next act will be less about holding the fort and more about raising the bar. The VFX race, it seems, is only getting started.
