Star Trek teaser trailer: CBS promises new crews, new villains, new heroes and new worlds

CBS, during their upfront presentation recently not only revealed new shows that are coming the next season, but also teased the upcoming Star Trek series. The series pilot is set to premier in 2017 on CBS, with the show being an almost exclusive to new streaming service CBS All Access.

The 50 second teaser doesn’t give us any footage or insights from the show, it begins with a voice over stating, ‘CBS presents a new adventure’ and then dwells deep through the tributaries of the universe at a lightning pace, showing different celestial objects and then it goes on to highlight a set of words, “new crews, new villains, new heroes, new worlds”, followed by the new logo of the series.

The new series will be helmed by Hannibal creator Bryan Fuller, the same person who initiated his career by writing Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and Star Trek: Voyager. Fuller will also fill the role of executive producer for this project.

The original series created by Gene Roddenberry aired between 1969 and 1972 and starred William Shatner and the late Leonard Nimoy.

Living up to the legacy of Star Trek would be challenging for the creators, although if they can strike the right chord, they can always find huge revenues given its titanic fan base. The upgraded techniques of VFX and CG animation should further assist in making it an even more immersive experience. Let’s wait and watch how it all goes.
