It’s 2 November, the day when the Badshah of Bollywood took birth 50 years ago! And Yash Raj Films has gifted his millions of FANs in the most suiting way possible… by releasing the second teaser of his next feature film with the studio – ‘FAN’ – which is set to release next year on 15 April.
The new teaser reveals the plot of the film, just so much as to create more curiosity among the fans of SRK! It starts off with the character of Gaurav Channa narrating about his ‘connection’ with his biggest idol and superstar ‘Aryan Khanna’ (A great gift by SRK to his son, who shares the same first name) from a very young age.
The makers of the film have made use of plenty of stock footages of SRK’s various world tours, talk shows and award functions as well as his many public appearances made at his house Mannat to bring his fans closer to his larger than life persona. But the most honest moment in the teaser is when Gaurav (sabse bada FAN) is shown being bullied by his classmates at a very young age for his love and affection towards superstar Aryan Khanna; this is certainly a phase that every kid sometime or the other goes through in his life and everyone watching this teaser will be able to relate with this particular sequence.
The teaser further goes on to build how deep a connect Gaurav shares with his icon and idol, that he not only begins to emulate his style, but also models his own looks and clothes on the superstar! And in a true FAN’s statement Gaurav says: “Bhagwan ne bhi sahi googly maari, Aryan ko banane ke baad jo miti bacchi na… usne mereko bana diya!” (Even the almighty has his way of showering his love, after making Aryan… whatever material was left over, he created me).
The teaser ends with Gaurav winning a local talent hunt competition for (from what we guess) mimicking his idol Aryan Khanna on stage.
Shah Rukh Khan completes 50 years of his life, but age doesn’t seem to be slowing down this king of a million hearts anytime soon! In a recent media interaction, the superstar proclaimed that he honestly believes that his fans deserve to see a lot more of him on the big screen and thus he has promised to do atleast 3 films every year beginning from 2016… Now that is why he is the badshah, he always knows what his FANs want even before they demand it from him!
The dynamic duo of Keitan Yadav and Harry Hingorani at redchillies.vfx also deserve a round of applause for thinking outside the box and upping the ante once again in the realm of visual effects after having done superhero flicks like ‘Ra.One’ and ‘Krrish 3’.
The film is going to witness some radical use of visual effects with Harry Hingorani at the helm as VFX supervisor on the project. In the recent past the team at redchillies.vfx had worked closely with Autodesk India to present SRK with a one-of-its-kind life sized 3D printed model, and in an earlier interaction with AnimationXpress, the redchillies.VFX team had mentioned that they would use similar techniques and more to recreate a younger SRK as well.
Overall the teaser does manage to leave you with a smile and also with the question! Will Gaurav Channa get to meet his idol, his icon, his role model – Aryan Khanna? or will his dream be shattered? (taking cue from the cracking of the FAN logo in the end of the trailer)… We will have to wait for 15 April, 2016 to find out!
