Sony Pictures Entertainment reaches settlement with employees on the recent hack issue

The dust on the Sony Pictures Entertainment hack incident has still not settled. The massive hack which took place ten months ago disrupted the working of the company and compromised personal information of thousands of employees on the internet.  SPE has now reached a settlement with the former employees in the lawsuit but details of the settlement haven’t been disclosed.

Nine of the former employees filed an amended class action lawsuit, and is a combination of seven different lawsuits alleging that the company failed to take adequate actions to safeguard their personal information. Sony and the plaintiffs have asked that the class-action certification be pushed back 45 days while both parties await the approval of the settlement.

North Koreans were suspected to be behind the hack in retaliation to a Sony production, The Interview, a comedy movie based on a fictional plot to assassinate the country’s leader Kim Jong Un starring James Franco and Seth Rogen.

Amy Pascal, the studio co-chair was one of the casualties and had to step down post the hacking incident and Sony is still dealing with the aftermath of the event and still grappling to come to terms and bring normalcy into its daily routine.
