DuckTales (1989|1993)

DuckTales
DuckTales 2(remastered version)

Based on the Disney animated TV series, DuckTales is an action platformer video game developed by Capcom. It is based on the story that focuses Scrooge McDuck travelling across the globe collecting treasure and outwitting his rival Flintheart Glomgold to become the world’s richest duck. For starters, five levels are available in DuckTales: African Mines, The Amazon, The Himalayas, Transylvania and The Moon. The player can visit the levels in any order and can revisit them in order to access new areas unlocked after collecting certain items. Each level culminates in a major battle that the player has to defeat to retrieve that level’s treasure. There are also two secret treasures hidden within some of the levels. Sounds exciting, why not try it?

DuckTales was followed by a sequel which is a remastered version, DuckTales 2, in 1993 featuring high-resolution graphics. The rules remain the same.

Spider-Man (2000|2001)

Spider-Man
Spider-Man

The game allowed the gamers to play their favourite superhero in a 3D setting which made great use of Peter Parker’s vibrant world. It focuses on Spider-Man who is framed by a doppelganger for stealing a device created by a supposedly reformed Dr. Otto Octavious. The game also features Venom, Carnage, Scorpion, Rhino, Mysterio and Symbiote Doctor Octopus who is exclusive to the game. In the game, the player can control Spider-Man as he passes through each level, either by trying to reach the exit or completing a certain objective. Featured in the game are multiple types of costumes that have spanned over the course of Spider-Man’s career. Each costume can be unlocked by accomplishing various goals or by entering a cheat code (If you have one). Wouldn’t you want to try?

Two sequels were released in the same year 2001, Spider-Man 2: The Sinister Six and Spider-Man 2: Enter Electro.

Tomb Raider (1996|1997|1998|1999|2000|2003)

The game is full of action and adventures that involves exploring the environment, solving mechanical and environmental puzzles, navigating hostile environments filled with traps, and fighting various enemies. Croft is the playable character who is shown to be intelligent, athletic, elegant, fluent in multiple languages, and determined to fulfill her own goals at any cost. By which, she embarks on the journey to solve mysteries in not-so-environmentally-friendly places.

The first game Tomb Raider was released in 1996, second game Tomb Raider II in 1997, third game Tomb Raider III in 1998, fourth game Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation in 1999, fifth game Tomb Raider Chronicles in 2000, and the sixth game Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness in 2013.

The Walking Dead (2012)

The Walking Dead

An episodic graphic adventure video game, The Walking Dead focuses on an epidemic that turns the dead into Zombie-like walkers that are only functioned to decimate civilisation. The series is focused on a young girl named Clementine who was alone when found by Lee Everett at the start of the epidemic. In the game, a player is able to move the character to examine items, explore the place, and initiate conversations with non-player characters. Some scenes are based on cinematic elements using quick time events in which the player has to hit a controller button or a keyboard command as indicated on screen to react to an event. Split into five episodes, decisions made by the player would affect the storyline, with characters often living and dying with each click of the cursor. Excited enough to play?

There are plans for the release of the fourth and final season in the year 2018.

Batman: The Brave and the Bold (2010)

Batman: The Brave and the Bold

The game is a side-scroller beat ‘em up/platformer with 2 D animated visuals. Each level in the game acts as an episode and features Batman teaming up with one of his trusty superhero allies to fight against several supervillains. Each playable character has access to a series of upgradable gadgets and superhero assist attack (Black Canary, Aquaman, Black Lightening, Green Arror, Booster Gold, Red Tornado, The Flash). Players with the Nintendo DS version can join forces with the Nintendo Wii version to drop objects on enemies, sometimes even dropping health for the other players.

In the game, one also has the option to play every level as Batman or switch and play as his partner. Wish to inflict some damage on the enemies?
