Silvergate Media appoints Wanda Kidsland as a partner for the ‘Peter Rabbit’ TV property in China

Silvergate Media extends partnership with Wanda Kidsland to manage consumer products program, content distribution, promotions and retail activation for the Peter Rabbit TV property throughout China. This will help boost exposure both on air and on the ground to make the series a leading preschool property throughout the Chinese market.

The company, together with Penguin Random House, co-owns and manages the licensing programme for animated Peter Rabbit TV series. The new partnership will further expand the footprint of Silvergate Media in the Chinese market following the success of The Octonauts and the firm’s recent move to establish a dedicated China business arm to develop commercial opportunities for children’s brands in the territory.

The new agreement will build on the partners’ successful relationship which has accelerated the growth for The Octonauts in China, where it is now a super IP with broadcast views now exceeding 23 billion on web TV.

“We’re delighted to be extending our partnership with Wanda Kidsland. They have played a key role in fuelling exceptional growth for Octonauts across China. As a market leader in China, Wanda Kidsland has a vast network of attractions, content platform partners, retail distribution combined with a strong track record of delivering high impact location-based entertainment that will help propel Peter Rabbit TV series to reach new heights in this exciting growth market, “commented Silvergate Media chairman William Astor.

The preschool Peter Rabbit series is a co-production between Silvergate Media, Nickelodeon and Penguin Random House. It re-imagines Beatrix Potter’s world and brings the brand to a new generation. The animated series already has a strong awareness among preschool audiences in China having launched on national broadcaster CCTV in 2014 with strong support from web TV platforms led by TenCent and Youku.

“We value the long and successful collaboration with Silvergate Media on Peter Rabbit TV IP, and we are delighted to enrich the children’s entertainment offering for Chinese children through this landmark partnership,” said Wanda Kidsland Group president Li Xiao.

Wanda Kidsland will be presenting opportunities for Peter Rabbit TV series at China Licensing Expo which is taking place in Shanghai from 16 to 18 October 2018.
