Showdown 2016 witnesses creative talents in VFX and Gaming from across the globe

Design professionals and students from across the world experienced a thrill at Showdown 2016, a VFX and Gaming competition organised by Anibrain School of Media and Design, Pune. The competition took place in February, 2016 and was divided into two categories – VFX and Game.

It was a huge platform for amateurs and professionals to showcase their skills to the world out there. All the participants who applied for VFX 2016 received a common video footage online. Participants had to submit their footages within a month after receiving their footages. The contestants were judged by professionals in Gaming and VFX industry like Anibrain, executive producer, Mark De Sousa and Bot VFX, 2D supervisors, Sankara and Srikanth S.

Participants of Game Showdown 2016 were invited to present their best gaming concepts. They were judged by Dhruva Interactive, studio art director, Erik Anton Egerup; Nile Games, CEO, Anand Jha; Nile Games, senior designer, Vijay Rakshe; Ubisoft, deputy MD, Syed Abbas; AirConsole, game designer and artist, Martina Hugentobler, full-stack software engineer, Francois Weber and Hashtash games, CEO, Kinshuk Sunil.

Total 200 aspirants participated in the competition and moreover, some of them were based out of India. Various students from institutes such as Arena multimedia, MAAC, Srajan Institute, Backstage Pass and international schools across India participated in the event.

Showdown 2016

Talking about the success received at Showdown 2016 and an overall view about the event, Anibrain Digital Technologies, founder and CEO, Jesh Krishna Murthy said, “Through highly engaging and industry relevant educational programs in the area of new media, we at Anibrain School of Media Design strive to enhance a career path for aspirants and build a talent pool for the rapidly growing AVCG industry. Being one of the judges at the event, Nileegames, CEO, Anand Jha said, “It was great feeling being one of the judges for Game Showdown, judging was very tough between all talented participants because every participant gave their 100 per cent on creating best game design document.”

When Game Showdown first started in 2014, it witnessed a huge success. This segment of online gaming competition received tremendous response with over 110 entries in that year. With every passing year the competition levels grew in terms of participations and reach. Showdown 2016 also demonstrated some really impactful results not only from India but also from the global audience.

VFX Showdown 2016 had two categories – Student and Professional. Ramanuj Deka, Royal Global School (Guwahati) and SarathRaj (Arena Animation Annanagar, Chennai) have been declared as winners under the Student category. While, Sriram Seshadri (Bengaluru) and Rohin Shaikh (Srajan institute, Pune) won in the Professional category. Spot On (Arena Animation, Swargate) and Raging Tornadoes (Backstage Pass Institute of Gaming And Technology, Hyderabad) amazed the judges with their work under the Game Showdown 2016.
