Shaun the Sheep triumphs at the British Animation Awards 2016

Shaun the Sheep: The Movie has added another honour as it bagged the Best Long Form Animation award at the British Animation Awards (BAA) 2016. The awards ceremony marked its 20th Anniversary and was held at London BFI Southbank on 10 March 2016.

Shaun the Sheep the MovieThe Amazing World Of Gumball: The Shell, the animated series for kids, won the Best children’s series and Children’s choice award.

Also, Martin Freeman won the award for Best voice performance in Magic Light Pictures’s animated feature Stick Man.

The BAA recognised and honoured various animated work across several categories and formats. According to a report in BBC, BAA Director, Jayne Pilling said, “It’s 20 years since these awards began and we never cease to be bowled over by the sheer creativity and innovation in the British animation industry. The incredibly difficult decisions that our panels had to make to choose the winners prove that the animation industry is in better health than it’s ever been.”

Every two years there are two awards handed out at the ceremony to new talent in animation and this year, they were won by Katie Lenton and Sarina Nihei, who took home the awards for best undergraduate film and best postgraduate film respectively.
