Roadhouse Interactive working on a new ‘Iron Maiden’ action RPG

Heavy metal band Iron Maiden has teamed up with Roadhouse Interactive and 50cc Games to announce game around the band. Titled Iron Maiden: Legacy of the Beast is an RPG game which will be out this summer on iOS and Android devices. This is the second game from the heavy metal group after 1999 game Ed Hunter which was released with the album of the same name.

The game will be free-to-play, action packed filled with Maiden lore. Players will take on the role of Iron Maiden mascot Eddie, who has multiple forms, each of which has unique abilities where he can time travel, explore worlds and battles the characters from Maiden’s albums and art.

Roadhouse Interactive is known for its games like Warhammer 40,000: Carnage, the RPG game company developed from the famous tabletop and Food Battle: The Game for YouTube personalities SMOSH. It’s worked with Iron Maiden’s people, who granted the team “unparalleled access” to the vaults.

“As a lifelong fan, I have always thought that Maiden’s music, lyrics and cast of characters would provide the perfect basis for a deep RPG experience. With this game we’re creating an outstanding RPG that will appeal to all mobile gamers, including those discovering Maiden for the first time,” said Roadhouse CEO James Hursthouse.

The soundtrack will feature songs from throughout the band’s career, including previously unheard live recordings adapted for Legacy of the Beast by engineer Tony Newton with help from bassist Steve Harris.

“We know many of our fans are gamers and we have long thought that Eddie and Maiden’s music and imagery would be perfect for this. It’s something we have been looking at revisiting since Ed Hunter way back in 1999. Now in 2016 it can all be done on a smartphone so it makes it even more accessible for Maiden fans everywhere and also all the gamers out there,” said Iron Maiden bassist Steve Harris.
