Rise of the Tomb Raider’s new details revealed

Crystal Dyanimcs has announced that it won’t be developing the Xbox360 version of the Rise of the Tomb Raider but instead has handed over the reins to Nixxes Software.

Crystal Dynamics studio head Darrell Gallagher in a recent interview with Game Informer said, “We’re wholly focused on Rise being an Xbox One title without limitation, without even thinking of the Xbox 360 version.”

Darrell also added, “Console translations take time. When it came to Rise of the Tomb Raider, Crystal Dynamics was totally blown away by a tech demo Nixxes put together. But the existence of that game isn’t limiting our work on the Xbox One version.”

Nixxes has worked on several other ports for Crystal Dynamics, including Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition and Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light.

Like the 2013 game, this time around too Lara Croft will be on the globetrotting journey that will take her to the regions of Siberia and one more location, with hub areas that are said to be two to three times larger than in the last game.

Lara will have new weapons and new survival gear which will help her solve larger puzzle tombs, and also a new enemy who has been in the hiding. The gamers can also experience and explore unchartered locations across the world described by Game Informer as dusty sandscapes, dense forersts, and underwater caverns.

Rise of the Tomb Raider is set a year after her last adventure and players can take the role of Lara as she starts on her new obssession to follow an ancient myth that offers eternal life in the mythical city of Kitezhm in Siberia.

Although, Rise of the Tomb Raider is an exclusive Xbox game, it is only for a certain duration and players can expect the game on other platforms once the deal is over. The game is expected to be released in time for Christmas, almost at the same time as PlayStation 4 exclusive Uncharted 4.
