Not long time ago, Nickelodeon had announced that it’s coming up with a new channel The Splat dedicated to bring back the 90s show and now Paramount Pictures is going to showcase some of Nickelodeon’s signature characters in an animated feature film.
Paramount Pictures have roped in Napoleon Dynamite director Jared Hess to helm the animated feature film, NickToons. Jared Hess will not only be directing the film but along with his wife Jarusha Hess, he will also be writing for the movie. The production will be handled by Disruption Entertainment’s Mary Parent and Cale Boyter.
According to Deadline, the movie is based on an idea by Ali Mendes, who works for Parent at Disruption Entertainment. Mendes grew up loving the characters and hatched the idea to bring them together. The characters would mostly be from the classic shows like Rugrats, Ren & Stimpy, Rocko’s Modern Life, Aaahh! Real Monsters and The Angry Beavers along with the subversive anthology show KaBlam!.
All are part of the vast Nickelodeon character library from the past 25 years that can be exploited to frame an original story the studio hopes will spark a franchise.
