Nick ends 2014 with highest TVTs in week 52 of TAM TV ratings

In week 52 of TAM TV ratings, Viacom18’s main channel Nick has broken records and reached a peak of 314 TVTs in week 52 of TAM TV ratings, the highest ratings for any channel in 2014 in the kids’ genre. This is a nearly 30 per cent growth from the earlier week when Nick got 238 TVTs. Hungama comes in second place with 260 TVTs (218 TVTs) and Cartoon Network came third with 219 TVTs (206 TVTs).

The biggest contributors to Nick’s supersonic increase in ratings were the telecast of five movies in the holiday week- Motu Patlu: Kungfu Kings (809 TVTs), Motu Patlu Mission Moon (412 TVTs), Motu Patlu in Wonderland (631 TVTs), Motu Patlu Deep Sea Adventure (486 TVTs) and the premiere of the first movie in the Pakdam Pakdai franchise which is Pakdam Pakdai Doggy Don v/s Billiman (679 TVTs).

Viacom18 EVP and business head kids cluster Nina Elavia Jaipuria says that the strategy of showing five movies in one week was a good bet. “This was the first time that we did this and the movies provided nearly 13 per cent to the ratings. Much of it also came through time spent which grew by 24 per cent,” she said.

The first movie of Pakdam Pakdai was also the last time the show came on Nick as from the next day it shifted to Sonic. However, Nina says that future movies in the franchise could be simulcast on Nick and Sonic.  At the same time, the refreshed Oggy and the Cockroaches will make up for the loss of Pakdam Pakdai from Nick.

The fourth position was taken by Pogo with 207 TVTs (174 TVTs) followed by Disney with 199 TVTs (198 TVTs).

In terms of time spent, the top position was taken by Hungama with 141 mins (124 mins) with Nick coming in at second with 128 mins (101 mins) and Disney at third with 97 mins (97 mins).
