Nathan Fillion and Alan Tudyk, to be the new jokers in DC Extended Universe?

With Batman v Superman – Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad, DC Extended Universe received a lot of criticism regarding its overly dark cinematic space. Though both the movies are one of the most anticipated movies, they certainly drew some criticism as well. DC always followed a dark and gritty path all this time whereas its competitor, Marvel, has a fun, light-hearted element going all along the way.

To stop this ongoing criticism, DC Extended Universe is now planning to have more light-hearted stories (like its comic book counterparts) for The Flash and Shazam movies and there are rumors circulating around two more characters that might receive the movie treatment. They are the wacky superhero duo Blue Beetle and Booster Gold.

Booster Gold/ Blue Beetle movie is said to be directed and executive produced by none other the DC shows executive producer, Greg Berlanti. Greg has been working on the DC shows like Arrow, Flash, the recently launched Supergirl and the upcoming Legends of Tomorrow. This project which is being pitched as a “superhero buddy cop movie,” has started gaining a lot of attraction and has sparked a wave of fan-casting on social media.

Two months ago Nathan Fillion had mentioned that he would love to star as the cocky, time-travelling superhero, Booster Gold and recently when his best buddy Alan Tudyk was told about Fillion’s interest in the film, he enthusiastically said, “Well, that’s great. If it’s working with Nathan, I’m in. Also, being a bug for me? I’d like that. Roly-poly is nice. I’d like to be one of them. That’s what we called them back in Texas, but they’re almost a beetle.”

Both the stars were earlier seen in Firefly, an American drama series which came out back in 2002 and won the Primetime Emmy Award.

Though Warner Bros. hasn’t officially scheduled or announced the film, it would be great to see how DCEU will incorporate these B level, comedy characters in their relatively dark and gritty universe.
