Spin Master has gained most of the DC Comics toy license away from Mattel. While still producing great kid-friendly toys and helping introduce the DC Superhero Girls line, Mattel’s action figure offerings have been terrible these last few years, reported Bleeding Cool.
Now, Spin Master will have the ability to produce figures in the boys’ action category, remote control and robotic vehicles, water toys, games, and puzzles. The three year deal between the two starts in the spring of 2020.
2020 will be an important year for Mattel, as Hasbro’s licenses with major franchises like Marvel Comics and Star Wars are set to expire. According to CBR, the announcement has already caused shares in Mattel (which are already at their lowest in 18 years) to drop an additional 4.5 points in the stock market.
