MAAC lends a helping hand to PM Modi’s ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’

Maya Academy of Advanced Cinematics (MAAC), India’s leading educator in 3D Animation and Visual Effects, launched its Swachh Bharat Abhiyan awareness programme with the support of Bangalore Political Action Committee (B.PAC) on 29 October, 2014 at 11:00 am at Bangalore Cantonment Railway Station. More than 200 students of MAAC cleaned in and around the railway station area, followed by putting up of plants. The students of MAAC pledged to give their best to make India a clean and hygienic country. This area will now be taken care of by MAAC.  The function was attended by Sanjjanaa, prominent model and film actress.

It is a well known fact that lack of sanitation is a huge problem in the country. As per a report by International Organization of Scientific Research (IOSR), Urban India generates 68.8 million tonnes of trash a year. More than 6,000 tonnes of plastic waste is littered and uncollected daily, adding to the soaring mountains of non-biodegradable trash. Cleanliness is an issue that needs to be taken up on a mission mode across the country.

On this occasion, Roshan Baig, Minister for Infrastructure, Karnataka state, appreciated MAAC for wielding the broom, and said, “MAAC’s cleanliness initiative will ‘inspire’ several people to join Government’s ambitious Swachh Bharat Mission. The effort by MAAC is a significant one that will inspire several people to join Swachh Bharat Mission.”

Anil Shetty Board member B.PAC, said, “B.PAC is happy to lend support to MAAC for the Swachh Abhiyan initiative. Clean India is not just cleaning public places; it’s about cleaning our own consciousness. I am happy to see MAAC students taking up this responsibility.”

Cine Actress Sanjjanaa said, “I am glad to be a part of this event and play a role in building the social image of the country.”

Shajan Samuel Sr. Vice President MAAC, said, “MAAC has always been at the forefront of several unique CSR activities, the recent being the documentary on the Bangalore Traffic Cop. At MAAC we not only teach our students to excel in the creative field but also motivate them to be socially responsible citizens. This is the very purpose of launching this initiative.”

Through its Swachh Bharat Abhiyan awareness programme, MAAC hopes to increase the awareness about the need for making ‘Clean India’ a mass movement in the country. This will result in cleanliness being a lifelong mission and not just a one day affair.
