Kate Winslet lends her voice for an anti-bullying animation video

The pretty lady Kate Winslet better remembered as Rose in Titanic has lent her voice to Daisy Chain, a new anti-bullying film penned by Australian-based writer and director Galvin Scott Davis.

The five minute movie which shall be launched ahead of National Bullying Prevention Month, deals with the global issue of cyber-bullying by focusing on telling an original story about a little girl named Buttercup Bree, who falls victim to horrible acts from cyber bullies.

The idea of an anti-bullying movie struck the director from a real life incident when his son started to behave weird one day, and the director found out that he had been bullied. Immediately, he sat down and told his son a bedtime story off the cuff and finished it with the line ‘bullying is for people with no imagination’.

The film, which was animated by Frederick Venet and features the music of Hylton Mowday, is now available on YouTube, where children and their parents can watch it free of charge.

Galvin developed the project with his company, Australian digital agency; Protein One and It was also assisted by Screen Australia. The story is being released as a free animated film online with the interactive App and Book available for purchase.

The visually captivating piece sees Buttercup win over the bullies with kindness. She uses chains of daisies to spruce up the old unloved playground and her bullies start to change. Buttercup does it all with the help of her new-friend Benjamin, who gives Buttercup the push to face her bullies again.

Oscar-winning actress Kate Winslet really shines as narrator of the five-minute video. But it was a chance meeting with the actress 20 years ago on the set of Hamlet in London that motivated Davis to contact her to be a part of the project.

This isn’t the first time Kate Winslet has lent her voice to any animated movie. Previously she had voiced for movies and TV features like Christmas Carol: The Movie (2001), Faeries (1999), and Flushed Away (2006) among others.
