Filmmaker Shoojit Sircar – who has been critically acclaimed for his work on films like Vicky Donor and Madras Café – is currently busy with the post-production of Piku and has reportedly put on hold his period drama based on an Indian footballer, starring John Abraham.
The film titled 1911 was announced a few months back with much fanfare.
According to reports, the producers had planned to start the film in the latter half of 2015. But since it is a period feature based on Mohun Bagan’s historic win against an English football club in 1911, a lot of VFX work will be involved to re-create the historic setting.
The film is based on Indian footballer Shiv Das Bhaduri who led Mohun Bagan in the historic IFA Shield final. John will play Bhaduri while Ayushmann Khurrana will be seen in a significant role in the biopic drama.
