Japan delivers Pixar style animation in ‘Tokyo Cosmo’

‘Flying creatures and Lightsabers’ is what you see in a typical Pixar movie. But now you can see this Pixar’s trend in Japan’s animated short film Tokyo Cosmo.

Directed by Takahiro Miyauchi, the 4 and a half minute film is the transit of the imagination of a typical Tokyo woman. It is a simple story of a subtle woman displaying her well maintained household when the plot suddenly changes into her imagination that is wild and adventurous. A Flying pig, a threatening monster that may devastate a city and an extravagant lightsaber that may remind you of the phenomenal Star Wars enters her imagination and the woman is on a super voyage all together.

The neat animation done by Takuya Okada and Yuva Tsubouchi portrays the beautiful city of Tokyo and typical Japanese textures of the apartment. A simple yet effective animated film, Tokyo Cosmo has a suspense element at the need as the petty household issues turn into a lef threatening ball game. And what happens at the end is left upto the viewers.

The short film is currently nominated for the DigiCon6 Awards, where one of 10 animated films from around Asia will win the Best Film Award. The voting will go on till 6 November.
