Indian game ‘The Bonfire 2: Uncharted Shores’ bags winner’s title in The Big Indie Pitch at Pocket Gamer Connects Digital #2

Indian indie gaming studio Xigma games bagged the title of The Big Indie Pitch at Pocket Gamer Connects Digital #2 for their game The Bonfire 2: Uncharted Shores .

Their official post on Facebook says “We are super chuffed to share that our game The Bonfire 2: Uncharted Shores has won The Big Indie Pitch at Pocket Gamer Connects Digital #2. This game has been our most challenging project till now and it wouldn’t have been possible without the continuous hard work and the team effort at Xigma Games and we would like to thank everyone for your love and support.”

Pocket Gamer Connects Digital is a new virtual conference for the games industry, from the makers of PG Connects! Networking is an essential part of the games business, but 2020 is not unfolding as expected. Big conferences like GDC have been postponed, and folks are unable to travel quite as freely. Instead to continue with the mission to bring together the games industry, PG Connects Digital is an answer (at least temporarily). An all-digital Big Indie Pitch offers shortlisted developers a chance to impress some of the best experts the industry has to offer (including journalists publishers, investors, and notable indies), answer questions and gather expert insight on their game at the comfort of the home.

The Bonfire 2: Uncharted Shores has been the winner The Big Indie Pitch at  Pocket Gamer Connects the second edition. The game is a survival simulation game where one has to build, craft, gather resources during the day, and defend them from monsters and raiders attack during the night. The primary objective of the game is to survive and manage resources to advance and thrive players’ small settlement.

In conversation with   Animation Xpress Xigma games founder, designer, and developer Himanshu  Manwani shared that “We started working on The Bonfire 2: Uncharted Shores after releasing The Bonfire: Forsaken Lands. After a brief period of post-production, we begin working on the game in June. It was just Govardhan and me for the most part of the development but after some time we had to expand the team to fulfill our ever-expanding scope of the game.

The development of the first part The Bonfire: Forsaken Lands started in early 2017 and the game released in March 2018. Soon after that, they initiated the ideation for the sequel. The first two months involved in pre-production and later 10 months into development.

Big Pitch offers  unique speed dating format gives each developer four minutes with each panel of experts, meaning entrants to get real feedback from the event and this time Xigma games aced it.  With that Xigma game will get a  chance to  get editorial coverage in Pocket Gamer, AppSpy and beyond, alongside potentially winning one of Big Pitch’s brand new bespoke Indie packages that can be used to promote and market their game across Steel Media’s portfolio of sites and events.

On sharing the excitement of their recognition on the global platform he shared, “We have been developing this game for over two years and this has been our most challenging project so far. After working for a very long time on a single project of such a scale, it can be very exhausting for the team and to see our game getting global recognition and winning The Big Indie Pitch(mobile edition) at Pocket Gamer Connects Digital #2 was a great feeling and huge boost for the team. The promotional prize money will help us promote our game during our launch and we will be able to reach more audiences. This gives us validation that hard work does pay off and we will continue to strive to make great games.”

Currently The Bonfire 2: Uncharted Shores is available for free demo at The Steam Game Festival: Summer Edition .
