‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ animated series to premier on Disney XD next year…

After the huge success of the ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ movie, an animated TV series is going to be telecast on Disney XD in 2015.

Disney XD announced at New York Comic Con on 10 October that an animated series of the summer blockbuster would be premiering next year.

But if you’ve been paying attention though, you’ll know that this isn’t the first time they’ve been on the small screen. The Guardians have appeared on Ultimate Spider-Man earlier, but this time, Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax, Rocket Raccoon, and Groot have decided to keep the spotlight to themselves.

“This is a very exciting time for the Marvel Animation Studio as we get to explore the cosmic side of the Marvel Universe by developing the first-ever Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy animated series. After starring in the biggest movie of 2014, everyone wants more of Star-Lord and his crew, now they’ll get it,” said head of Marvel Television, Jeph Loeb in a statement.

Like the film before it, the new Guardians of the Galaxy animated series will be part of the grander scheme of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, a large project that includes all of the Avengers superheroes films from The Incredible Hulk and Iron Man until Iron Man 3 and television show Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

The first footage from the show has been revealed and Guardians of the Galaxy 2 will blast into theatres on 28 July, 2017.
