Google celebrates Valentine’s Day with animated stories

Love is in the air and search engine Google has also joined the fray. Celebrating 14 February Valentine’s Day, Google has created a series of short animated films to celebrate ‘the way technology brings people together’.

Five animated films will appear on its homepage depicting modern romance. While people criticise how technology has created rifts in couples, Google wants to show how the two can go hand in hand.

The stories begin with the two Os of the word Google coming to life. One O is on the phone sending a heart emoticon to the other O. It’s anxiously waiting for its partner to text back and the other O comes to give it a kiss.

The second one shows the letters run into each other as they start into their phones while using Google maps to find the destination. When they dash, Google location’s pins form a heart over them.

In another video, the two Os are standing nearby when it begins to rain. They bump their umbrellas together while their hands hold their phones and they blush. In the other two, they bond over music while sharing earphones and one letter gives the other its charger when its laptop runs out of battery.

“As nerds, the doodle team wanted to sweeten up our homepage with ways in which technology brings people together.  The gesture may be as subtle as charging someone else’s laptop or as bold as sending an affectionate text, but technology is fully engrained in the ways we express appreciation for one another,” said Google doolders Jennifer Hom and Olivia Huynh.

However visitors from South Asia including India and Pakistan, Australia, New Zealand, North Africa, Middle East, Southeast Asia and Brazil won’t get to see the videos.

Here is a link to check them out, for all those who won’t be able to catch it on their homepages.
