Game of Thrones season 6 premiere date announced

Finally, the million dollar question will have an answer. The mystery to Jon Snow’s fate will be unveiled on 24 April when Game of Thrones Season 6 premieres.

Not only will the Season 6 be important in terms of story line going forward but it will introduce the audience to a lot of new characters which have not been introduced in the book. The show which has till now followed George R.R. Martin’s novels, not in its entirety but playing out major moments from the novels, will have to move away from the novel or have to reveal the plot points from the book six The Winds of Winter which won’t release before season premiere.

“Believe me, it gave me no pleasure to type those words,” Martin said in an interview about his not-yet-completed novel. “You’re disappointed, and you’re not alone. My editors and publishers are disappointed, HBO is disappointed, my agents and foreign publishers and translators are disappointed… but no one could possibly be more disappointed than me. For months now I have wanted nothing so much as to be able to say, ‘I have completed and delivered The Winds of Winter’ on or before the last day of 2015. But the book’s not done,” George R.R. Martin had revealed when asked about the release of the sixth book in the series.

The season will also see Isaac Hempstead-Wright return to essay his character Bran Stark, who was last seen in season four along Hodor played Kristian Nairn.

New additions to the cast include Freddie Stroma as Dickon Tarly, brother to Samwell Tarly and Max von Sydow as the Three-Eyed Raven.

HBO has renewed the show for season 7 and 8, which will completely take the show away from the books giving writers and showrunners more freedom in creating a different world for the TV series which is independent of books.
